iDDH's Way of Educating

At IDDH, we train defenders, educators, and activists through our own methodology, the IDDH Way of Educating. This approach combines training, coordination, and advocacy, preparing participants to defend and promote human rights both in their own territories and in international spaces.

training

We develop courses and workshops focused on human rights, preparing defenders, youth, and historically vulnerable groups, as well as public servants, to act strategically and effectively on the international stage. The courses are available through the EducarDH Platform, and offer practical and theoretical training on political advocacy, monitoring, and defense of human rights.

coordination

We integrate and coordinate networks and coalitions, such as the Coletivo RPU Brasil and the Colectivo EPU América del Sur, which bring together civil society organizations to monitor the implementation of international human rights obligations and increase the participation of Latin American civil society in international human rights mechanisms.

We connect human rights defenders and educators through the International Advocacy Network (RAI) and the International Youth Advocacy Network (RAIJ), where we share information and opportunities on international advocacy.

advocacy

We actively participate in international advocacy spaces, such as the UN Human Rights Council, contributing to the formulation of public policies aimed at promoting human rights education. Over the years, we have played an important role in the development and implementation of the National Plan for Human Rights Education, the World Plan for Human Rights Education (PMEDH), and regional guidelines in MERCOSUR, among other initiatives.

"These areas of action are intertwined and feed into each other in a dialectical process, which functions like a spiral, promoting learning and continuous improvement of knowledge in each of them.”
Executive director of IDDH

Members of the International Advocacy Network (RAI and RAIJ), composed of people trained by IDDH, receive three newsletters annually. These newsletters highlight the main actions carried out by civil society during the regular sessions of the Human Rights Council, the main human rights body of the United Nations.

The Olhares do Brasil Call for Entries selects artistic works that reflect a commitment to human rights, offering a platform for artists who wish to engage the public in fundamental causes. The selected works are published on online platforms and also serve as materials to raise awareness and disseminate the reports of the Coletivo RPU Brasil. Through this call for proposals, we seek to broaden the scope of the discussion on human rights through art and cultural expression.

The Ecoar Call for Proposals offers a unique opportunity for human rights defenders who have not yet worked in person in international spaces. By participating in this call for proposals, defenders will have the chance to carry out advocacy in strategic locations, such as the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The goal is to encourage the presence of Brazilian civil society in international political spaces, contributing to the strengthening of the implementation of human rights in Brazil.
